Sericea Lespedeza is a legume that can be established as permanent pasture. It is drought tolerant and can be baled as hay for winter feed. We have established about 3.5 hectares of it and it never fails to amaze how productive it is under harsh conditions. We usually graze it through the year, and then bale it late in autumn for winter feed.
It dries quickly and can be baled on the same day, but you must be careful of handling the bales too much, as you get a lot of leaf loss.
